The fashion at the Oscars last night didn’t disappoint. Simple elegance was a running theme. The true standouts of the evening shimmered all on their own with the focus on the gowns themselves, as most had forgone the expensive flashy jewelry.
Navy was one of the “it” colours of the night and an alternative to basic black. Tina Fey and Leslie Mann wore their gowns to perfection. Tina Fey’s peblum bodice Carolina Hererra was stunning and her glam up-do and purple stoned earrings complemented the look. Leslie Mann’s sequined navy Roberto Cavalli was also elegant.
Shades of Red was also a theme last night. Michelle Williams looked ethereal in her tangerine strapless peplum gown by Louis Vuitton, and Emma Stone who has emerged as a front-runner for style icon here at hush, glowed in her vintage inspired fuchsia Giambattista Valli couture.
A range of Green hues ruled the awards last night as well from Berenice Bejo’s mint green beaded Elie Saab to Viola Davis’ emerald green Vera Wang. But it was Glenn Close who stood out the most in her hunter green Zac Posen strapless with the fitted tuxedo blazer.
Rooney Mara surprised most with her elegant white lace Givenchy gown. The stark contrast between the innocent white lace and the severe black hair with cropped bangs, and red lips was edgy yet retained its glamour quotient.
